I figured out yesterday I’ve written seven essays this year. That’s in addition to my first try at the memoir manuscript. One of the essays has been accepted, two others are out circulating now, and more will be submitted when a few journals begin reading again in September.
This is, like, good, for me.
From the Muse conference in October I may learn some tips for writing for trade journals. That interests me. I love interviewing people, telling their stories. In the 90s I queried Woman’s Day twice and twice received the go-ahead to send articles and twice received nice rejection letters but no dough. I wonder if I’m ready to try the bigger time again.
So. I just saw this sort of thing on Sarah’s latest post, so it must be okay – a photo unrelated to today’s entry, but set there for the sake of adding a photo. Because I wish to see how photos look when posted in my new space, and because I want you to see my son and his friend practicing some type of manly weapon brandishment, here goes my unrelated picture.

I am enjoying the new blog, and random photos for photo sake.
Most especially, I enjoy hearing your writing experiences. Isn’t NANOWRIMO (sp?) coming up? Any plans?
I might give it a try.
Thank you, Marianne, and I’m glad the writing tidbits are of interest. I encourage you to do the November challengy thing; I tend to avoid such things on principle, or maybe just to be contrary, and set my own goals. But I admit the one where you blog every day has called my name…maybe I’ll answer this time.
Oh, yes, and I read and enjoy your Window Pieces entries every so often. Keep up the good work there!
I’d like to introduce your boy and his friend to real blades someday.
Perhaps he’ll pick one up at Shrewsbury next month?
For now, their imitations look to give some good fun.
Hi Deanna! I love this..it is soooo James & Levi!
Cherie, they are kind to me by practicing with safer weaponry. We have some pieces from Shrewsbury (or at least Victoria does). It’s coming up again, isn’t it? Woohoo, jousting.
Thanks, Deanna. Yes.
