Our friend Anna made reservations for four nights at a Bavarian bed and breakfast. She got the information at the place’s website, and it looked fine, but of course judging only by the web you never know.
On our way from Anna and Doug’s house to the b&b near Memmingen, I rode in the back seat of Doug’s car with a traveling buddy, Graysi.
I tried not to expect anything from our upcoming lodging. We were only paying 19 euro apiece per night, after all, so I steeled myself to hold back complaints. As it turned out as we unloaded I could truthfully ooh and ahh.

(My even cuter traveling buddy, by the horse picture in our room.)
Then we ventured into Rot, the nearest village, and enjoyed dinner at a restaurant near a former monastery.

The only thing I regret looking back at our trip is that I didn’t spend a whole day soaking in the atmosphere here, watching people relate to their horses. I could have slowed pace to match the beauty (though it was c-cold out).

But I surged off each day to see our sights, and that was good, too (especially Dachau, photos coming soon). Still, if I’d have rested I might’ve been a happier traveler when from our stations Graysi and I viewed the road again on our way to Paris.

Oh, my goodness! I must have missed something about the upcoming trip. How exciting. It is so hard to slow down when there’s so much to see. Maybe you can go again sometime to your favorite place(s) and take a more leisurely trip. When I went to Greece 1.5 years ago, I thought it was a great whirlwind, but I was really glad we saw all that we did and wouldn’t have changed anything–except for maybe not traveling with such a large group which always makes things much slower.
Well, now that I’ve had a chance to catch up, all I can say is what beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing them.
You’re a photographer too! That picture with the fence and the fog is beautiful.
The pictures are wonderful, the last two are my favorites!
I vote for the fence too–the drips make me FEEL the cold and damp, and the spider’s web the stillness…
Lovely, lovely, lovely.
Patti, Tim and I saw Sam yesterday and had a long chat about travels in Germany. You can tell he enjoyed his time there.
Melanie, thanks. I’m not gonna win prizes, but those foggy picture were just plopped there, and even I could see them.
Sarah and Fresca, I’m glad you liked them, too!
Hi Deanna-
What a delight! These are the times I thank God for cameras!
