a couple perks

A while ago Sarah showed me something she’d written. Strong prose, lovely description. I thought, My editor from Relief might like this. Turns out the editor did, and now Sarah’s piece will appear in the next issue. Here you’ll find Sarah’s bio.

These Gutenberg grads. All along I’ve had a feeling they could write. This past month I had the privilege of reading my daughter’s senior thesis. It being about governments and all, I benefited from digesting it in this time of political transition.

Of course I’m a bragging mom, but I recommend Victoria’s tome, and with her permission I’ve now posted it here, on my old blog. Feel free to peruse her study of Marx and Machiavelli.

Though I’ve had nothing really to do with each of the writings I’ve mentioned, I glow a smidge knowing I encouraged both writers, playing a small role in fostering worthwhile words for humanity. (Okay, I just stood around, and they worked on stuff.)

As a writer, I *hugely* appreciate the support of others–it’s part of what fuels the whole machine.

I tried to buy a copy of the issue with Sarah’s article in it, but I was too early and accidently got the Summer issue instead. After I read your ‘Memorial Day’ article, though, I was glad I had ended up with it. It was amazing.

I am really enjoying your daily posts. I’ve heard the bones of your and Tim’s story before, but the details make it much more human. Thanks for being willing to share it.

Learning more about it all the time, Fresca. I so agree.

Melanie, your comment means a lot. Thank you.
