Not much news at my house, though friends are going through difficulties in varying ways. I’m thankful that the story told here turned out better than it could have. I’m praying for their family, and for at least four more amid stress and change.
Tim’s aunt, still in the hospital, is doing better.
I want to show you pictures of castles far away. Settle in and relax if you can. These are from our last full day in Bavaria.

Isn’t that just amazing – those big big castles.
A lovely get-away for your readers, and most especially for you for having actually been there.
Just what I needed! Those gorgeous fairy-tale pix (but they’re real!) remind me to take a deep breath and the long view.
Had an anxious day–maybe this is the last bit of Scorpio lashing out with its tail as it departs.
Next up: Hearty, sociable Sagittarius, with its “come sit by the hearth and tell tales with cocoa” convivial nature.
Can’t wait!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Thanks for sharing them. It looks like you had a wonderful time.
Neuschwanstein Castle has played more of a part in the formation of my imagination than just about anything else. I gazed long and hard at pictures from every angle growing up. It’s amazing how still, even though I haven’t thought of it for years, at the first glimpse of it my heart leapt and all sorts of feelings and dreams came crashing back. I’m incredibly jealous that you got to see it in person, it’s on my list to see before I die. Thanks for the reminders of beautiful things in the midst of all this hardship.
Cherie, it was so much fun to see them, better than Disneyland (I think Walt D. patterned his Cinderella castle off of the white one, Neuschwanstein).
Fresca, whether or not it’s from Scorpio’s tail, this has been an anxious week here, too. Glad this helped. May the next time period be one for cocoa!
Patti, it’s fun to hear from you. The time was very special.
Sarah, that’s awesome that your creativity was inspired by Neuschwanstein. I hope you go there to write about it someday! The inside is something else – a palace (where of course we weren’t allowed to snap pictures). The tour is historically educational.
I’m particularly glad you enjoyed this, because that day I felt rather yucky (and it was cold), and later I thought I should have stayed in bed. But remembering through the photos, and now getting to share them during a rough week, I’m happy our friends “forced” me to go.
goo grief! i’ve got to take india to those castles. she would die of happiness. they don’t even look real!
India would love a ride in the horse-drawn carriage from the hilltop, too, I’ll bet. :o)
I have long longed to visit this castle, but never made it. That’s it… Europe is definitely back on our travel list!
