First, we bought day passes for the Metro. My very first subway ride.
When the young guy holding his terrier got on, I began to feel I was in Paris. Next a man entered carrying a guitar. Not long afterward he was belting out upbeat Spanish tunes (so maybe I felt I was in Madrid; anyway it was European). The people, all heading into the city for a Sunday, applauded the music, offered coins when he passed his hat.
We emerged into sunshine again a couple blocks from Notre Dame. Soon we found the cathedral.
Inside it was time for mass.

We ventured out and around the building for more views.
Can’t forget the gargoyles.
Couple more, only these are giddy gargoyles.
Next, Tim made a tiny friend.
We walked beside the Seine
and along more boulevards.

At last, I was tantalized by part of the landmark I’d been seeking.

Gee, the Louvre is big.
We didn’t even attempt the inside.
We wandered to the Arc de Triomphe.
Then as shadows lengthened we experienced a warm Paris evening.
Returning to the Seine, we rested tired toes.
I still wanted to pinch myself. I was here.

After dark we were whisked to the top of our beauty, which turned out blue (should I say bleu?),
and we viewed the world lit up below.

I wanna go!
These shots remind me of one of my favorite movies:
“Before Sunset,” in which a couple walk around Paris and talk for 90 minutes. Heaven.
Ooh, now we’ll have to watch that movie. Thanks, Fresca!
Deanna, this looks so good. I’ve not visited Paris. We’re thinking of taking the boys there; my first son in graduating college and majored in history and took four years of french. We thought it would be a fun family thing to do. Thanks for sharing these!
Have a great time if you go, Sandy. :o) And if it’s later in spring or summer, leave plenty of time for the line beneath the Eiffel Tower. We only had to wait a half hour or so to go up, but I here it can get pretty long.
Love all the photos, especially as I no longer to get to those places. Thanks!!!!
Fabulous photos! Great one from the top of the Eiffel Tower, too. I didn’t realize the Louvre was so large either.
Glad you liked ‘em, Mike.
Patti, I’ve tried to go to your blog, and it seems to have gone away. Have I misplaced it? Where are you? At any rate, God bless your Christmas season.
WOW. Amazing trip! I think I would have to pinch myself as well. Great photos.
I’ve combined my website and blog, so it’s just http://hobbits8.com (no “patti” subdirectory). I had set up a redirect, but it didn’t work if my first name was capitalized. So I’ve also created a redirect for that version, too.
