Although internet movies, videos, fan flicks, and so on do not make up much of my cyber-life, I am pleased to have known about a particular video production since it began its journey a year ago.
Directed, edited, and produced by Fresca from l’Astronave (the suavest name for a blog I’ve heard, meaning “starship”, and I suppose French starship at that), “Orestes and the Fly” debuted worldwide this weekend. Here’s Fresca’s description:
“The Fly” meets one of the world’s most famous dysfunctional families, the House of Atreus.
“Orestes and the Fly” is a comic departure from Jean-Paul Sartre’s play “The Flies”–itself a retelling of the Greek tragedy “The Oresteia” by Aeschylus. This Fly is an Avenging Fury who really wants to be a tap dancer like Fred Astaire.
You’ll also find the movie here, along with a nifty “making of.”

Hey! That’s me! I can’t tell you what a kick it is to see one’s work unexpectedly on a fellow blogger’s site. (Well, you probably know.) I take it as a great honor. Thank you so much, Deanna.
You’re very welcome, dear filmmaker friend. Sorry I had to shrink it to fit this space. I did feel proud of myself for figuring out how. :o) But then I linked to your larger “screen”.
Actually, I think it looks nice and crisp shrunk so small.
(Remember shrinky-dink toys, I think they were called? You shrank these plastic things in the oven? Probably highly toxic….)
you know? I really liked it. Especially the “effects”, the red silk for blood, the paper boat and the quick flash of what looks like sail. Very nice.
Thanks for the memory of shrinky-dinks, Fresca. I’m sure we got some at some point. I know we had a thing-maker machine. Cool and very likely toxic to everything…
Yes, Jodi, I liked all those elements. The blood was quite artistic.
