Fresca, there was more I could have said about my love for that word - it doesn't need a "c", for one thing; it means journeying in such a satisfying, trail-crunching way. I don't know. It's just a great word - Gene Roddenberry or whoever chose it was a genius.

Marianne, do blog about your own favorite words if you want - I'd love to read them. I had trouble with the new Trek at first viewing, but by the second time - on Christmas day with Victoria ready to discuss it afterward for hours - it was great fun. I'm hooked now. :o)

This is a lovely idea. I love the writing and the analysis of Spock (and ourselves). Did you love the most recent movie?

Word of the day...I'll have to think about it...and perhaps blog about it?

What a great idea! Word of the Week.

For me "trek" is all about Star Trek; so I was surprised [not all that long ago] to find the word "trek" has older historical roots too--the Great Trek of the Dutch Boer settlers deeper into South Africa.
I love when the personal bumps up against history like that.
